Took two days off this past week and with Veterans Day it afforded me four days to hunt. Wednesday I hunted at my girlfriends farm for a half day and seen one buck off in the distance and six doe. Had plans for both Wednesday and Thursday afternoons. So I only hunted the morning on Wednesday and got rained out by a monsoon and high winds Thursday morning. I was also exhausted and really didn't want to get out of bed anyways.

Fast forward to Friday morning and both I and my buddy overslept and were an hour behind getting to my family farm. I let him choose the stand he wanted to hunt and he picked the stand on a point with a feeder. He's looking to get some meat for the freezer and I was good with it because I had my heart set on another stand. I opted to go back to the stand I killed my buck from last year being the winds were going to be very strong and this stand was down off the ridge just below a thicket. By the time I got him up to his stand and then got to mine. I wasn't settled in till almost 7:30 and really didn't know what to expect being that far behind in time. Wasn't long though and I saw a doe above me running around and then another. I knew there had to be a buck with them pushing them around and eventually I did see the buck, but he was only a three-point. He pushed them back and forth for awhile and then back up to the ridge out of sight.

I then decided I would go ahead and do a little rattling, grunting, and even thought what the heck and hit the doe-in-heat bleat. Wasn't 5 minutes or so and I see a deer coming straight to me from out in front. Soon I caught sight of his horns and grabbed my bow to be ready if he was a shooter. He entered the food plot in front of me and caught wind of the doe estrus I had hanging on a branch. He stopped broadside at 30 yards and I couldn't take it any longer. I drew back, held on and let one go.. He must of heard the shot and dropped, but I caught him in the spine and had to finish him off with another. All this took place in front of one of my StealthCam G42NG, but it didn't catch a bit of it. "Low Battery" was showing when I checked the cam afterwards, but it did take pictures of me just fine walking in front of it to see my buck.

My initial thought was that this back wasn't as big as the one I killed last year, but after coming home and pulling the one off the wall. They are almost identical and I think this years is the offspring of the one I killed last year. At least that is what we are assuming...

Sorry for the long post... Here are the pics..
