I hunt a couple hundred acres in the Missouri river bottom. It is broke up into two different tracks on each side of the bottoms. In 2011 I decided that I wanted to get more serious about killing mature deer but it didn't seem like I ever had any living on my property based on sightings and trail cams even though I continuously passed on young bucks. So I started looking and asking for advice on how to change my property to hold mature deer. Which, lead me to Jake Ehlinger at Habitat Solutions. Through logging, hinge cutting and other habitat improvements I now have several 4 1/2 year old bucks living on the property. I was able to take my first 4 1/2 year old buck last night.
Congrats on a good buck!! That's something to be proud of and glad your management and hard work is paying off!
