So I've been using one type of camo pattern and all that blending in fairly well and then I'm sitting here thinking.... Does anyone ever wear a jacket and or pants that are made of a whitetail's hide.
I saw a video that someone posted on here where the dude literally his behind a cutout poster of a whitetail and walked right towards a buck and then shot him at pretty close range. Im wondering if wearing a hide based gear would make them less jumpy and likely have the benefit of being warm, quiet and stickers not attaching on....

    Random thoughts from me tonight

was talking to the wife about this the other day, well actually why don't they make hunting clothes the same color as deer.. A deer that is standing stone still in the woods is almost impossible to see..

There is always a chance you could get shoot at by another hunter. May not be the best idea!

remember a lot of guys wearing buckskin to be authentic looking during smoke pole hunts back in the 70's.... but lot less hunters in the woods... today... I think the last thing I'd want to look like during deer season is a deer...

that is always a chance no matter what you wear... It offends me I have to wear orange because some people are too stupid to identify their target first..

I would not bother with the deer skin jacket. From what I have seen over the years deer trust their nose more than their eyes. You can look like a deer but can not smell like a deer.

Haha good responses. I hunt private land so less worried but its always a possibility of trespassers.

Dan Fitzgerald's deer dander comes pretty close but even that is not 100%.. I have used it the last few years with good success...

I would think that looking like a deer will draw attention and once you draw a deer's attention seldom can you escape undetected no matter what cover scent you are using.

I think my point would be modern camo or anything else you wear is still only as effective as your scent control. I always hunt with the right wind no matter how bad I want to hunt a certain buck...

I get how people hunt the wind and that it can be very beneficial....a lot of times I can't hunt the wind and it swirls all over my property. So scent control is one of my biggest pet peeves because I hunt up/down/left and right of wind

I would think that looking like a deer would be much like using a deer decoy, sure people might have success doing it but a negative reaction is a higher probability than success. I contribute my ability to sit undetected is to sit as motionless as possible, as clean as possible and use the wind as much as possible.
