You cant spend much time on any hunting forum and not read countless threads about this rack.

I just don't like the B-C scoring system.. I think it was wrong on this one the points are close but don't think they share a common base..

I don't know if this is going to make any sense but once he sold the antlers it kinda takes away any disappointment in the way it was scored. Jonny got paid and the antler collector gambled and lost.

Whats the story of this buck? B&C counted the split as a split and not two tines so it was a deduction and didn't set the record but he sold the antlers to a collector before the results came back?

All normal tines also share a common base, it's called a main beam....

I find the very premise of deductions absurd, if it's there is should be counted in my honest opinion. I guess there's something to be said for segregating typicals vs non-typicals but even there...to me if both sides have matching tines what the flip difference does it make if they share a common base. It's stupid, typical net score should be based on symmetry, drawing that fine a line because of a wide base between two points is just silly.

Yes, and to compound an already bad scoring system (typical), they deduct (not just don't count) for asymmetry! That really get's me.

I think anyone who has "personally held these antlers many times" and "knows the owner of the rack" is biased in his/her opinion and really DOES care what everyone else thinks.

I like how everyone likes to throw their lil jabs out there this site is getting to be like archery talk... I'm just asking. This has been a debate for a long time and personal I can kinda see it go both ways and am on the fence so that's why I wanted to see what others thought.

the BC scoring system is all subjective and much is left to individual or a small group of scorers interpretation ...

I think they dropped they ball on this buck...

BTW It may not be the world record anymore , but I still think the Jordan buck is the most awesome typical ever killed by a hunter..

I thought it was pretty obvious from the very beginning that it was a common base. Most likely why he would part with it before the official panel measurement. I would guess a lot of people had already told him that. Really awesome buck though.

If all you were really looking for was what members of this forum thought you could have searched the Johnny King buck at the top.

I quite agree. It has a certain unique beauty/awesomeness about it that I haven't seen on any other buck, including the Hanson Buck.
