I'm just curious if anyone's ever tried or been successful at achieving the Whitetail Slam (hunting all 8 of the Whitetail subspecies...for those that don't know)
No. I have a hard enough time just hunting the whitetail. I might try a few of them but it would be after I retire and the boys are old enough they could go with me.
Ok im a bit dumb I guess...can someone tell me what the 8 are and what areas? Im sure I can google it but im here now so asking here lol
Seminole, Dakota, South-Central Plains, Northwestern, Northern Woodland, Southeastern, Gulf Coast, Desert Coues. All whitetail just different areas of North America
No, these slams are for guys that like seeing their name on an accomplishment, I just like to hunt I don't pursue getting my name in a magazine.
I guess, it would be fun though because from what I have read the deer act differently and the different terrain would be cool to experience as well, just my 2c but at this moment I will keep working on Ohio bucks
I think this is very well put. I'm sure there are guys that want the slam just for the recognition. That's not my reason though. I want to hit the slam for the challenge of the different deers. They all have different personalities and habits. I like the challenge.
