So I happened to find about 400 acres close to me that I have got permission to hunt. Seems to look like some good ground for whitetail hunting. Looks like a good split of farm and woods with the river on the east side. Any ideas where to take my climber and start? [IMG]

I'm thinking where the fields and fence rows meet the river bank. Gonna go check it out Thursday.

Looks like there are a couple of pretty nice funnels on this property. Good luck.

Find the food, go in midday and look for the freshest sign and start from there.

Any of the funnels or the inside corners of the top field.

I personally like the spots I marked in yellow. Of course the wind and what's actually planted in each spot might change that a bit. Also, what's in the green part right in the middle with the timber around it? Is that something planted or CRP? It might be good too depending on what it is and if you can get to it without being busted.

Just by looking at it these are some spots that I think might be good for starters, before you go back into the trees and disturb too much. I think during the rut the trees would be a good spot for morning hunts. Is that a road going through it? Wow 400 acres that looks really good!!!! What state? [IMG]

I'm in Ohio. The spots you two marked are what I was thinking too. I don't wanna go walking thru the woods and mess it up. The road running thru the center is a stone road that is traveled very little. The fields inside the acreage are crops and currently have corn and beans still up. Think I'm gonna take the climber and go look around Thursday afternoon. Hopefully find a good place to hang up for the evening.

Edit: forgot to say that the map is north to the top, and we have a predominantly west wind, so hunting the river bank should be perfect.

Well, today was a bust at the new property. Farmer was taking off the corn, so I sat up along the river, along the bean field. About an hr into the sit, here comes the bean header pulling in along with a couple semis. They all get out and stood out in front of me. Like 40 - 50 yards off. So I packed up and hit a different woods.
