I am looking form some input on products to keep my feet warm during those cold mornings. I currently wear 800 gram insulated Rocky boots. But no matter how many thick socks I wear my feet still get cold. I was wondering if anybody uses heated socks, boot blankets, or other products, that actually work. I really don't want to buy $250 1600-2000 g insulated boots. Just looking to see what everybody is using.
Are your boots your actual size or are they a size bigger? I had issues getting my actual size and then putting on thick socks (sometimes two pair) because my feet get cold easily. Once I bought a size up it helped. If they're too tight, the socks restrict airflow and circulation which causes cold feet. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
There is definitely a difference betw 800g and 1600g insulation. Boot blanket is probably your best bet if you can't add sock layers and can't buy new boots. I use toe warmers but even they have their limits.
Tip I learned last year, spray your feet with scent free deodorant. You can get this at walgreens. This keeps your feet dry and in turn keeps your feet warm. It worked for me.
For cold mornings I rock the adhesive toe warmers. The walk in get's me warm and they keep my toes toasty through the coldest part of the day. If I sit all day, I might put a second pair on after lunch.
Ice Breakers boot blankets. They've lengthened my hunting time considerably. All day sits are no problem now. Watch for sales at cabela's. I got mine for around $50. Best money I've ever spent for hunting
here is your problem.. you need some space in the boot for more than 1 sock and air to keep warm. If its just rubber/sock/foot with no air then you'll be cold
Change into a new pair of socks when you get to your stand, put old socks in plastic bag in pack. Sweat=cold, cold=dead. Haha. I do this but good boots is a big help too. I got a pair of Muck Artic Pro's and love them. Worth every penny.
I wear 1000g rubber boots and a thick pair of wool socks and it usually works well for me. I will also shove a hand warmer in the toe of my boot for really cold mornings. I like the foot spray idea as well.
I buy my boots a size bigger so I can put 2 pairs of socks on. No replacement for dressing in layers... I can also drop a hand warmer down in my boot and slide it to the end of the toe if i'm sitting for awhile on a late season hunt. I also try to do isometrics and wiggle my toes/feet BEFORE my toes get too cold.
I bought a heater body suit. I always have cold feet but so far this year I've been toasty warm and I've been in below freezing temps. Only prob is its so comfy I almost fell asleep in the stand. Glad I wear a harness. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk - now Fre
I've always had problems with cold toes, and as I get older (creepin up on 52) I have to pay even more attention. I purchased a pair of Rockies a couple years back with 1,600 grams and they've been absolutely fantastic. A biggie for me is the insulation from the ground or the metal treestand - the Rockies have done it. Plus, I insert one of the small handwarmers between my sock layers - to the top of the toes. The small warmers last longer than the toe warmers, and I think the limited oxygen environment in the boot makes them last all day (a lot longer than the advertised 7 hours). Hot Hands are THE best! Good luck. Staying in the stand is a key to success.
