7:00 opening morning. 9/27/14. Dead Ringer Rampage 3-blade put him down. Was with another buck. Good start to the season.
Here's the story: Haven't had very many different deer this year on camera and of those only two nice bucks. This buck has been sporadic in visiting any areas with cams until the last couple of weeks. I bumped a buck right at the stand walking in and thought I had blown the morning. I had forgotten to mount my bow hanger when I hung my climber, so in attempting to do it in the dark this morning, I drop it 18' to the ground. I strapped my Thermocell and bag to my climber, hung my quiver on a stob, and rested my bow on the front of the climber. At about 7:00 I was getting stuff out of my pocket to look at the camera card I pulled upon arrival. I caught movement coming up the hill to my left and quickly shoved everything back in my pocket. Grabbed my bow and he was there at 15 yrds broadside. Drew the bow and waited for him to clear a tree and stop. Released the arrow....hits high....buck bolts along with another shooter trailing him. He blows out hard, hurting bad.....heard him crash hard. Call wife, whisper the details....hang up....two scrubs walk 30 yrds behind me down the ridge feeding on acorns. Nice morning hunt@
Thanks... Since you are new... there are two rules you need to know... story and pics or it didn't happen. Any questions... PM Tony. A+ on the retest.
