Shot at a doe from 20yrds. The arrow passed right through. Hair and tissue on the arrow. No gut smell shot at her twice missed the first shot. I hit a large branch that i carelessly cut. Nocked another arrow and shot at her again. Rushed the hole thing. Very sick to my stomach. Don't know what happened. Going to look for her in the a.m.

Not much blood at all for a true pass through. If you think the shot was high I'd say it may have passed through hide and meat on the top of the shoulders, maybe backstrap? If so and you don't have much blood I'd say it will likely survive.

Unfortunately I've been there and have done the same thing on a couple of occasions. Don't know if the deer ducked at the shot or I miss judged the yardage. Upon tracking I only found single droplets of blood and I had to get on my hands and knees to find even that. The good news is most deer will recover from this, maybe not if you just caught the top of one lung. You definitely making the right decision in looking for her the next day, we owe it to the animal. Good luck.

I had a similar hit on a doe last year i shot from my ground blind. She ducked the arrow, it was my fault, she was a bit keyed up and i aimed for center lung instead of aiming for the heart to compensate for any possible ducking, and i didnt find any blood and my arrow looked almost identical to yours. But i got pictures of her from about a week or so after and through the remainder of the season.

It happens to the best of us.

    Glad to hear she's okay.
