I was excited about an idea from Fred Eichler in Bowhunter magazine...he says he eventually got to the point where he shot his bow EVERY day by often shooting just one arrow, then hanging the bow back up. I was interested to see if any of you do this...that is, shoot every day or shoot one arrow so you can say you shot your bow today? I guess his reasoning is that bowhunting is all about the accuracy of that first shot.
It depends on how I am feeling. If my first 3 shot group is in a 3inch group at 40 yards I hang the bow back up. If not, I shoot maybe 3 or 4 more groups till I'm on again. Now I am trying to shoot one shot every 20-30 minutes for however long I have just to simulate a one shot opportunity and I move left or right and closer or farther from the bag to simulate angles and distances
Not me... I shoot occasionally until the season nears. Then I shoot when I can but almost always before I hunt to make sure I am still dialed in. I used to shoot every day... but really... I never got much better after a certain point. It did seem to help with muscle memory though.
This year I shot nearly everyday in late July and August, leading up to the season. Now I shoot just 1-6 arrows a few times a week from 35-55 yards. Most shots on deer in my area are 25 yards or under, so when hunting, I find I can settle the pin quickly and easily after practicing at longer distances at home.
since August I try to shoot 3 arrow shot groups 3 times @ 30 and 45 yards @ least once a day in my yard (I have a 3d deer for 30 or less and a big block for 30 - 55 yards) .... takes maybe 15 - 20 minutes .... if I'm all over the 30 yard target I don't go to 45 till my shot group is tight and even if I finish w/ the 45 yard I go back and shoot one more round @ 30 .....
I do.. I shoot one broad head tipped arrow at varying distances out to 40 every day starting in August all through the bow season. If I miss the kill zone with that shot then its time to shoot more. I have had this routine for 5 years now. After shooting 3D for many years and flinging arrows on a daily basis I took up this practice method. It helped me make better shots while hunting!
Yes depending on how much time I have & what the weather is doing. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I shoot every day, spring, summer, fall, winter. (minus a few days here and there) Its a stress reliever for me. But once september starts, I only shoot 3 arrows a day. 1 from 20 1 from 30 1 from 40. Go through a full pre shot routine just like I would on a hunt. Make every arrow count
