If you want to get some during season scouting in I would be more than happy to hunt it for you this year amd give you full reports of sightings. I know I am way to giving.

Haha....actually i have already decided that if i shoot a buck at home early enough i will probably go out there and do just that. Hang a stand and "hunt" with my video camera to see what kind of "residents" are there

Congrats on the new places! Especially since they don't hunt at all. Once you get to meet the owners, I would ask about others who are allowed to hunt there and when/where they see the most deer. Other hunters can provide you info on the deer (provided they are willing to share info) and gives you an idea of what kind of pressure the deer are under when you aren't hunting. The land owners should know more about what deer, when, where ect than anyone else and can be a major start for you. If there are not many others hunting the land, ask if you are allowed to put up game cameras to scout for you. I would also mention that you may need to do a little light pruning for shooting lanes. Most land owners don't care at all, but it is the respectful thing to do.

I hunt almost exclusively private land, small lots and I talk with the land owners on a regular basis, even if just to tell them about the monster buck I saw, I harvested an old, mature doe last week. I feel the owners appreciate me giving them a little "report" from time to time as long as I spare them the details. I say "I harvested" vs "I killed" and "it was a short tracking job" vs. "there was so much blood a blind man could follow it" and such. (Have heard someone say that to a non hunting, "I love the deer, but i know there are too many" land owner.. thought the lady was going to puke over the details this guy was telling her. He lost his permission to hunt right after..
