What's up guys. Still lookin for a new bow. I have the diamond outlaw now. Not a bad little bow but it is constantly eating cables. Had a few smaller problems with it to. Lookin at possibly trying out the hoyt charger, mathews zxt, and mathews helim. Does anyone else have any recommendations? I know the best way will be to shoot them. Just wanna hear what others have to say
Ignore everyone saying this bow or that bow! I have been shooting for several years and I took a buddy out to look at bows a few years ago. He kept asking my opinions of bows we were looking at. After trying several that I thought were good bows I realized I am not him. I'm 5'8" with small hands after telling him several I liked I realized my 6'3" buddy with giant hands couldn't even hold some that I just told him I liked. Forget what everyone says. Set your budget and go do your homework! Shoot as many bows as you can within your budget and pick the one that is right for you. I have no doubt you will pick a good one! Good luck! what're you wanting out of your bow set up? just hunting? multi-purpose (3d/spots)? what's your budget look like? there are all kinds of factors. just like jfergus said, it's all up to you. for example, i sold my 2008 Diamond Marquis recently. there wasn't nothing wrong with it, but i felt like buying a new bow this year. the fella i sold it to was brand new second lieutenant, really young, and is just getting into bowhunting. before i sold it to him, i told him to do his research before shooting my bow. he ended liking the set-up for both the price and how well the bow felt to him. i told him that in bowhunting, you can spend a lot of money or a little money and still make a well-placed shot on the animal; all the bells and whistles are either style points or for comfort. some bows may lend themselves to more accurate shots, but what counts the most is the bowhunter, not the rig. but if you do want specific examples, find a used guardian. if i found one in good shape, i'd want that bow to be budget conscious….hehehe
Really wanting it mostly just for hunting. My price range is 500-800. I'm a small build, 5'6 with 26-26.5 draw
Check out the bear models for that price range. Might run a bit more with all accessories. Shoot everything you can and decide what one you like best. Don't set your mind on a Matthews or Hoyt just because they are the name brands. Shoot an Elite E32... I have a bear and will be looking at those next year. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I won't need accessories. I'm buying bow only. I'll be throwin my nap apache and hha ol5519 on the new rig
The best short draw bow I seen or shoot in years is Energy Sprit.....don't shot it because you will end up owning it. It's the nicest 2014 bow this year.
I'd look at Short Draw bows or higher speed IBO bows with high Brace heights. That's what I'd do if I were going for a hunting bow with a short draw. But, if you shoot a whole lot you may want to focus more in feel of the bow and the draw cycle. Like others have said, go shoot what you can get your hands on. all manufacturers make good quality bows now days.
for me anyways, i've always preferred longer ATA bows with longer brace heights. i've hunted in ground blinds and tree stands, and haven't had a problem. that's why i love my Bowtech Commander. but like it was said earlier, shoot and shoot some more. with that kind of budget, you can get yourself into a really nice set up. what bows have you shot so far? what are your personal criteria that makes for a great bow? for example, shootability over speed or vice versa?
For that price range also look at the Mission Ballistic and Blaze great bows for the money bare they will run you $500 Ballistic- $600 Blaze. Have fun finding a new one. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I337 using Tapatalk
Haven't been out to shoot yet. Gonna try goin to a few shops here soon and trying a couple. I like some speed but I also like the smoothness of the draw and a solid back wall. Figured with my price range I can find a pretty good bow.
I shoot a DNA SP and a Hoyt Faktor 30 and of the two the DNA is definitely faster but I definatly choose the Faktor as my primary hunting bow. I recently set up a Full Throttle to see if I liked it enough to replace my DNA, but the 5 1/4" brace height makes it unforgiving, however it is a rocket launcher. The Charger is an excellent bow for the price, so is definitely an excellent bang for your buck. I also noticed many Carbon Elements on E bay in your price range. I used one last year and it is an excellent bow.
Yea I'm ready to try shootin a few. Once I sell my bow now I'm gonna be lookin. Just waitin on a buyer.
Why wait till it's sold? Doesn't cost anything to go try them out and figure out what you want now so soon as it's sold you will be ready to go! Sent from my iPhone 5S using Tapatalk
