I am a relative newbie to bow hunting. Last year I shot my first two deer with a bow. I had only shot one doe with a rifle before that. Talk about a dry spell! 10 years of half-hearted hunting until I finally started getting serious. Was sitting in a tree on the edge of a soybean field. Combine came through around 4:30 and he came in following a doe 20 minutes after the combine left the field. Put a good shot on him and he went down within 40 yards! I was pumped!
I don't know if he broke his tines fighting or if he got hit by a car. When I skinned him he had no fat on him at all. My friends doe that he shot the same day had a ton of fat. This was the last weekend in October. Thought it was odd that he had no fat on his body.
