I have the piranta and like it best, but others prefer the bolt as it uses a little bigger/sturdier blade. The reason I use the havalon is for the tiny blade for easy skinning/fleshing/caping of an animal... A bigger blade just makes these tasks more difficult.

I have 3 Pirantas as well and agree with Trevor. I like the size of them and have gutted, skinned and caped many bears and deer with them. The blades are a little thin, so you won't be breaking any joints with it, but they're scary sharp.

I have them both and love them. Great not to have to sharpen your knife when your cleaning an animal.

Sounds like I'll get the piranta or the new torch it's the same as the piranta but has a thicker blade.

Best knife out there, period. The torch can use both the thicker and original blades.

I used my Piranta for the first time this year on my doe. I will never try to dress another deer without one!

I have one but I think they are too light for a heavy skinning job. It feels like a plastic butter knife in your hand. It is as sharp as they come however. I love it for skinning out and breasting turkeys. For me a knife with more weight is better for skinning deer.

It took two blades to skin and quarter my elk. The second blade is still sharp. Id say it works well for skinning.

I use the piranta. I let my brother use it last year to gut his doe and before he started I warned him how sharp they were. his first cut went right through the belly and sliced the stomach open. I told him it was sharp!

I am probably going to buy the torch as a back up next.

I keep looking at these everytime I go to the store and keep thinking one of these days I will pick one up. Might have to swing by the store today!
