Making scents?

I'm wanting to make some scent sticks maybe vanilla scent but not sure how to do it any idea's?

 

don't know about making the burnable sticks, but I am just going to pack a small bottle of vanilla extract .

 

So being rather novice still at this point... I know about trying to be scent free and such, but what is the vanilla doing here? Does it act a bit like an attractant or is it acting as a odor mask, but not to scare off the deer in the process?

Or am I way off on the possible usage?

 

It acts as a "soothing" cover scent.

 

Will keep gnats off of you too
