I will be hunting ELK/DEER in MT this year and since I already am buying a tag, i figured I would start try to build point for moose, sheep and goats.. but have no idea where to start.
Any advice would me much appreciated.

If your just starting, then like a lot of guys your way behind in the game.

You best chance is a pure lottery like Idaho, That said its expensive yearly...and you might be better off budgeting a Canada trip for sheep or goat... Unless your carting a horseshoe around.

You don't need to buy a hunting license to apply for points in MT like you would in AZ UT or NV. That said, MT has atrocious odds for ever pulling a tag. Just get on their website and apply if it interests you, pretty simple process. I apply for a lot of points and chose not to apply for MT.

I already apply for UT, AZ and CO. have been for the last 4 years now. I am still a college student so dont have the bank roll to go on multiple hunts a year, but figured I could start building up points. I say MT because I have friends that live there and I will be Elk/Deer Hunting there all fall
