So what is everyone's thoughts on a business that will not provide their service to gay events. Example: A caterer refusing to do a gay wedding.

A hotel refusing to rent a room to a KKK group.

It goes on and on....now I am talking about privately owned businesses.... Thoughts?

Right to refuse service works in bars if you are against you should not have to cater to. Then again in this day and age you have to.

I'm all for someone refusing service to someone. After all it is a private business. I'm allowed to say who can or can not come into my home why should it be any different in business.

Now it's not the best business model to follow but who cares they can take business else where.

Perfectly fine if its a private business.

In this instance the business may catch fire... But it's the businesses choice.

The amount of bad press the bleeding heart media would spread would make it tough for a business to recover from I would think these days. Even if it was just the local media.

    Black Skin=born with

I don't care if a privately owned business discriminates and denies service to people. In my opinion, that is the right of the business owner. The way people should display their thoughts against stupid discriminatory actions should be to hit the business in the pocket book. I can tell you if we only had 10 restaurants in town and 9 out of 10 of them discriminated against blacks, I wouldn't eat there nor would I allow my children to eat there. Same goes for discrimination against gays. That being said, business owners should have a right to decide who they let in their business.

If I found out you hunt behind high fences, I just might break some civil rights laws.

I'm all for my rights... but sometimes you gotta draw the line where common sense lies. Seems like most on both sides of the fence for any given social issue don't abide by that rule.

If I didn't make myself clear... no, you shouldn't be able to refuse rights to someone based on ethnicity, sexual orientation, gender, etc... My rights don't supersede general human rights. Where would you draw the line? Should a private practice doctor be able to not provide help to someone because they are gay? What if that business was the only one of that type in that town (only grocery, only gas station, only ____)?

I don't believe in homosexuality, but I do believe God made all man equal...If I owned a business I wouldn't refuse service to someone because of what their beliefs may be, all I ask is keep your beliefs to yourself.

What if I walk into a "private" business with no shirt and no shoes, will I still get service?

I believe any private business has a right to do business as they please and has a right to refuse business to anyone they so choose.
No one has a "right" to force me to provide services to them. If they do...they'd best be prepared for the chittiest services imaginable.

What if you own the only gas station/grocery store in a 75 mile radius... Should you be able to pick and choose who gets to use your store? Or better yet should you be able to charge said people different rates depending on their skin tone/sexual preference/gender/etc? I mean, it's your business right?

Right to refuse service...it's not a circumstantial concept. There are already laws on the books to protect consumers from price gouging.
I'm not going to play "lets lollylob hypotheticals about willynilly"
