I haven't cut off cable completely but I watch sports online for free at Stream2U. Chrome and Adblocker needed but it's free. You can even watch UFC, boxing, just about any international sport or pay per view event. EDIT: I know most people don't want a janky site or want to deal with that but it's really handy for one off sporting events and what not, I don't recommend using it as a daily sports fix. For those who have cut the cord, by the time you pay for Internet and all the monthly subscriptions, doesn't it end up being close to what you paid before? If you subscribe to 4 monthly things that's getting close to what my cable bill is. Maybe I got locked into a good rate?
Aren't you going to have internet wheather you have paid TV or not? If so, then you can't figure the internet into the cost because you would have it either way. Before Sling TV mine would look like this: (these are guesses without looking at my bill) Internet $40 Netflix $7 One time cost of a Roku Box $40 One time cost of an aerial antenna ~$60 So really my monthly TV bills were only $7 because I would have internet either way. Now I'm adding $20/month for slingtv and so I only pay $27 a month and I get pretty much everything I want. I may even drop sling TV in the summer time when nothing is on.
I could probably do without cable if it wasn't for live sports. It's about the only thing I watch when it's actually on. Sometimes I'll catch some of the things on the Discovery Channel when they first air, but usually I record and watch later so I can skip the commercials.
I've completely outgrown ESPN. I don't watch any of it these days, but I used to watch it all the time as a kid.
Ever since the son went off to college I lost the majority vote so ESPN does not go on till the wife gets in the shower in the morning.
True, Internet cost would exist either way. My cable bill is about $120. I'll have to check again to see how much I could save. Personally I could manage with just Internet, it's my wife who wouldn't be fully on board.
Cord cutting isn't possible here because there's only one internet provider in the area and they could care less about boosting the internet speeds. What we have is called "high speed" but streaming is out of the question if there's 2 computers going.
I could easily get by without TV as long as my buddy continues to let me use his log in to watch shows online haha. I watch half the UK basketball games online anyway, and the only shows I watch I follow online rather than live.
I admit to using my parents login info for ESPN, SEC Network, DisneyJr/Disney and HBO. They don't use it, so I might as well. It has certainly helped.
I just got hooked back up about 2 months ago, I lost the battle with my wife. I was on 3 years without cable and loved it. I'm already sick of tv shows and all the crap I can't wait for my contract to be up.When are cable companies going to wake up and realize most people think they suck and offer us some real packages that don't support all the crap. I watch 4 channels not including my locals for the so called news. Hopefully by the time I'm ready to cut the cord again their will be a reliable way to watch what I want when I want.
You watch those? I had you pegged for lifetime. History channel is a Yes from Sling TV. I do not know if you can watch the other ones live like you watch on cable. However, I'm sure if they don't have a way to get the channel you will very likely be able to watch most if not all programs via other methods on demand. I watch Nat Geo shows all the time and I don't have the channel.
