There are a lot of debates about social networking. I am always browsing classified ads for jobs. Found a local medical school was hiring a social networking specialist. Pretty much a position to make sure medical students are acting appropriately with a side of advertising the school. I am one that believes social networking can ruins things or make them better. Had a "dispute" happen here over a fire department posting a picture on Facebook of a fruit basket they got. The other departments didn't. One department refused to go back to the area because it was "rude". Do you think it is hurting our representations? (or helping) Do you think people misuse it? (or is a good time filler) What do you all have? (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc)...
I see no harm in it myself but know that people obviously misuse it. It can hurt our representations and help our representations, people misuse it but also use it correctly, and it is also a time filler. I have Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Snapchat, and LinkedIn. It can be quite useful if you use it properly.
I interview and hire a lot of people. The first thing I do when my recruiter sets up an interview with me is look them up on LinkedIn and Facebook. I can say without a doubt several hire/no hire decisions I've made have been heavily influenced by what I saw on social media.
There are too many Social Media bully's out there that will spew out nonsense because they don't have to back anything up and they know they are safe. I use social media quite a bit to keep up to date with companies and promotions. I use most all of them, Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, Twitter, Vine, Google+, Tumblr, Reddit.
sadly so true it's all about anonymity, forums are bad too folks will say things online there is no way they would say to your face..
I do agree with the social media bullies. I am a member on a couple horse forums - I've seen a lot of people really get nasty after people. Such as calling cops on them for what they read online. Some people are who they are in real life online, then others try to make a different person online. Anyone watch or hear of the show CatFish? It's a show where people fall in love with someone online, they're dating but never meet in real life. Some never even talk to said person on phone. They finally arrange a meet up and the person is someone not even close. That's the freaky part of the internet. I am pretty much who I am online as I am in person. Only difference is I am a bit shy at first in person!
The worse part is when someone you know post something directed towards and they know will offend you, then in person its like nothing happened, Really you think you can get away with whatever on the internet lol
I use it as a way to keep in touch with people I otherwise wouldn't talk to due to many variables, and a way to pass the time when I'm sitting around bored. It cracks me up sometimes how strongly opinionated people get about social media.
Only one I have is twitter, and that's only for sports and news info. I despise FB, because it's a dirty laundry whining fest all the time.
I have none of it. No point in my mind. If I want to stay in contact with people I'll call or text them. If I don't have time to talk via text or phone it's not that important. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
One of the things that I hate most about Facebook... The amount of ridiculous "news" stories that people actually believe and will share.
Yes! The 52 free thoroughbred horses! Oh my goodness. I get it at least once a week. I will read something, if it sounds "interesting" I will do a quick snopes/google search.
I beg to differ. Most all of the posts on the forum (excluding the water cooler) are informative. It's pretty airs to say the same about the BS on facebook. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
