I'm due for a new one, but having a hell of a time finding something.. Maybe I am just too picky, most seem either just ugly, cheap, or I can't find the blade / grip combo I like..... Any suggestions?
Here are a couple...they wont break the bank like the originals. The second it much larger...something to keep in mind. A.G. Russell Knives | Small Dozier Trapper with Flipper A.G. Russell Knives | A.G. Russell™ Dozier Tab Lock Trapper
I need to get a new knife my other one has been missing for two weeks, figure if I buy a new one I will find the old one.
My weekday carry knife is a Buck 375T. I like it because its very small. If I am heading out to the woods I usually carry something larger.
I have been carrying a CRKT M16-13Z Kit Carson for the last few years. It is a great knife with my only complaint being the cutouts in the handle, they collect all kinds of nastiness and are hard to get clean. I use my knife for a lil bit of everything, literally lol so being able to get it kitchen clean after dirty use is essential. have always carried a Gerber of one type or another usually a 4" lock blade... hard to beat an old case folder..
do you require the clip? probably for a knife that size... I've never really like the modern cutout handles. yes they are lightweight, but it makes it seem unbalanced in the hand. I like a substantial handle and I'm not worried about weight for an EDC. I have nothing bad to say about Bear MGC knives. I own several and will probably never intentionally own a different brand. lifetime warranty. they make some similar (pointed blade, black & clip) like this one: Bear & Son Cutlery :: G10 I understand the purpose of the hole in the blade (grip for opening) but that might make it a little more difficult to clean quickly and easily
AG Russell makes it sound like a famous AMERICAN brand... but these 2 are made in china and Taiwan... seems they've been beat up about it before: A.G. Russell Knives | Why we make knives in China. - A.G. Russell /meh... weak sauce...
The knives designer is one of the most in demand custom knife maker today . Bob Doizer has well overa three year wait and has stopped taking orders for tab locks. My tab lock doziers cost between 600-1200 each. Russell isn't miss representing anything. He is clear about what your buying. TJ if you'd like to try one out I will mail you my trapper to see if you like it. I have knives that cost 5x as much that are comparable.
