OK you fellas with pre-teen / teen daughters.... Did the onslaught of hormones make you want to scream? My daughter is 10, which seems young I'd think but boy is it already happening. Puberty is arriving and with it is hormonal craziness. We just ended a 30 min crying session over her not getting to watch a movie. lol Being a dude and rather a harsh and not exactly touchy feely kinda guy I have about zero patience for such things. I let momma handle most of it but clearly Dad has to play a role.... So any experiences to share? How did you handle the transition of a girl becoming a young lady... Clearly it is a multi faceted dilemma.
lol you have some time... What is scary is I thought I still had some time as well, but suddenly BAM. Hell her lil best friend has already started her period. WTH?
Boys only. I feel boys are harder early on and girls are harder later on. Time to pay your dues. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I have two teenage daughters. It is not a fun transition, but you'll live. I try to be there for anything they need and continue to provide structure and stability. Any touchy feely **** my wife deals with.
My daughter is 9 and she is already changing ( the only word I can get myself to say). I want her to be my little princess forever, and this transition is really breaking my heart.
My oldest daughter is 12.5. She is a very well rounded and confident young lady but there are periods of time where just out of nowhere she gets nasty and mean! hahaha. I told her last night I was going to take the phone she was using and throw it across the room if she didnt get off it. I dont think she liked my comment that much.
As a person who was a preteen not all that long ago, my memories are very clear. For the dads here, I would like to say that it is never too early to start teaching your daughter what she needs to know. And that's not just the physical aspects of sex, but what she needs to know about relationships and marriage. Don't leave it up to TV, movies, and the school. I abstained until I got married. But there has to be better reasons for abstaining than "you might get pregnant," or "you might get a disease." You have to teach those better reasons.
TJ...you are the first and most important male in her life. As long as she knows you love her and that you are there for her, she will come out in good shape. Until then, hang on cuz it's a Hell of a ride :D I had 2 girls and one boy in the house at all times ...when the oldest boy went to college, we took Andrew in ... the brothers took most of the hits :D Do NOT try and understand them .... you will get beyond frustrated ...hold your lines with love and consistency and be ready to have this look on your face alot
Been going on ten years of this with my daughter and my wife is going thru menopause for the last five years so I am ready to bang there heads together.
I dated a woman years ago who had a 12 yo daughter that turned 13 and aunt flo visited. It only gets worse brother. . She was a 2 headed dragon and would cut you to pieces with her glares lol! It was like being around a schizophrenic sociopath. You never knew what personality you were getting and none of em were pleasant to be around.. I blessed the Marine Corp for me getting hurt and making me sterile after that experience. .
I don't envy anyone raising girls, boys can be a handful but so much less to worry about..not that there isn't a lot to worry about, our three boys 19,20,21 yo had their trials..lol
