Lets "spice" up the forums and get a discussion/debate going over vaccinating your children. I posted this in the rant thread last night as I found it quite interesting. Obviously I am in favor of parents having their children vaccinated. Lets hear it.
I'm mostly in favor of vaccinating, but I also believe there is a correlation to many of the problems kids develop as well.
the autism vaccinate argument is largely based on junk unsettled science... There is no proven correlation between vaccinations and autism or any other disorders.....
Certain things we should vaccinate for, others not so much. We had our kids given the vaccines when they were little but we don't do flu shots.
And I would bet that most of those who strongly feel that vaccinations are strongly linked to autism spend far too long reading bogus internet articles. IMO the media portrays an unfair advantage for the case of vaccinating your child and focuses on the autism case far too much.
YEP.....we have one child who is mildly autistic and has some developmental delay after much testing and study the docs find no link to vaccinations. My wifes brother has similar issues but not as bad his our youngest, I believe it is hereditary in his case..
This. The normal MMR, Varicella, Meningococcal, Hep, Polio, etc. But I feel that HPV and Flu should be optional (which in most cases they are). But, working in a doctors office I have a few families who refuse. One family has notorized papers stating they will not vaccinate. They wont put anything into their bodies...yet they take medicine, get blood work, etc. Not sure on that. Then we have the irresponsible parents who just don't want to do it and of course the ones who think that it's all just bad. In these cases we do blood work (titers) just to see if they have immunity.
I don't understand the idea of not vaccinating. Working as a school custodian I see how quickly things spread from kid to kid all the time. I don't believe that any child should be allowed to attend school without getting vaccinated with the exception of those kids going through chemotherapy as long as they have sign off from a doctor and are regularly checked to make sure they don't have anything. For those that refuse to get children vaccinated can home school.
Both of my girls fit vaccinated. I think it's stupid not to. I know a family that won't and it drives me nuts. If their kid gets sick due to a disease that they chose not to vaccinate for then they put their kid at risk. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Has anyone here had a rabies vaccine? After getting the series of shots a few years ago I can see where some of the vaccine fear comes from. The entire day after getting a shot I just felt strange, I could definitely tell there was something unnatural in me. However leaving your children unprotected against serious diseases doesn't seem worth the risk.
Ruger, was there a reason you got that? (Exposed, bit?) I work in a medical office, never had the doctor recommend it to anyone.
Had a run in with a raccoon that I ended up killing and turning over to the health dept. Tested positive for rabies and to the hospital I went. Not fun at all. However the horror stories about shots in the gut aren't true(at least not anymore)
So as I'm researching this more and more I came across this simple, yet disturbing quote.... and IMO solely blamed on the ignorance of parents not getting their children vaccinated.
Parents want to do what's best for their kids, and you mix that with parents who's priority is pride, and they don't want to fess up that they are wrong, so they fight harder. Every time you point out the errors in their argument, the argument changes. I just feel bad for the kids.
Honestly I feel like parents should be held accountable for reckless endangerment of a child when their unvaccinated kid get's ill/dies from a preventable disease. Public schools should mandate any/all children be up to date on them before allowed on school grounds. Not only is the autism link faulty... the doctor leading the trial WENT TO JAIL FOR FRAUD over that very trial and has since retracted his stance on it.
