I am just here so I won't get fined.. POSSIBLE UPDATE.. what a tool.... for that he should get fined....
Oh ok, I was completely lost by this thread. I'm not sure how I feel about forcing its players to answer questions from the media but then again, how hard is it? I'm indifferent but it sure can be comical.
Who cares? The man doesn't like to answer questions or appear in front of the media... There is absolutely nothing wrong with that. You want to hear him do a real interview, check this out:
No different then coaches who just sit up there and say "our focus is our next opponent" over and over when they don't want to answer a question. Bill Belichick is famous for this as well. While Lynch is kind of stupid for not dealing with this better its still his choice. If he wants to give up hundreds of thousands of $$$ to fines then thats his choice. I agree with Richard Sherman and his stance on it all. Its really not fair that players are required to appear in front of the media all the time but NFL managment, team managment/owners aren't required to deal with the media unless an issue arises and even then they don't have to talk if they don't want to.
I actually like that about Lynch. This is America,if you do not want to answer questions you should not have to.( and I understand it is probably required by their contracts, that is bs as well)
I agree that it is kind of BS that they are required to. Shouldn't be forced to talk to the media IMO. But, it is what it is and they are required to. There are a lot of people in America that are required to do things at their job by their employers that they would rather not do. If they repeatedly don't do them over and over again they would be in the unemployment line. That's my only beef with it. But.... it's his choice to blow his own money. I could really care less.
He is contractually obligated to speak to the media. It might be stupid but neither Lynch nor the NFL is wrong, it's just how it is. It would be like me refusing to speak or go to a 1 on 1 meeting with my manager or attend a meeting with my team. It's no different. So he can either speak and not get fined or not speak and get fined.
That's the beauty of it. People are willing to look past him not performing that part of his job when he is so proficient at other tasks of his job(playing football). If you get fired for refusing a small task by your boss then you must not be bringing anything to the table in the other aspects of your job.
The last time he was fined they let him give it to the charity of his choice. I bet he writes it off as a deduction. He's all about that deduction boss....
I must be wierd or something as I strive to do well in all aspects of my job rather than just do enough not to get fired?
bingo ... when you sign on the dotted line you agree to do press conferences and answer questions , and not to be a pretentious azz about it....
Not trying to defend him but I believe that he believes that this is getting back at the NFL for all their hypocritical and bad management over important issues over the years. Ranging from concussion issues, domestic violence, drug use, player treatment, owner bias by the league, etc... Unfortunately, he isn't going about it the right way. He is violating the rules within his contract and should be punished. Another unfortunate thing for him is that professional athletes have a level of privilege, luxury, and a history of getting away with murder (metaphorically and literally). Because of this, he isn't going to get a lot of sympathy from the average hard working American. Maybe his statement of not making statements will usher in some needed changes within the NFL, maybe not. But two wrongs don't make a right. Wish he would have gone about things differently, not setting a good example for people to emulate.
I wish I was blessed to play a kids sport for millions of $ and required to speak to the press, I'd answer any question they asked me...
