Since it is winter and almost all hunting is finished - anything you all do in your downtime? For me it is our catch up. I think this past month I have actually enjoyed my new house for the first time since we bought it. We have got a water softner installed, finished some little things in the house, measured our pasture and got the barn "to do" list going, and just some other odds and ends. By the end of this month it'll be racecar prepping then into turkey hunting. Hoping to get a little ice fishing if it thickens up some. You?
Trail cams Also, remodeling, building a log crib, and otherwise preparing for the arrival of Little Fitz.
Scouting for next year. The woods will still look very similar what next years mid/late season will look like. Rubs and scraps will still be relatively fresh and easy to spot. I just walk around with a 20ga because its still rabbit and squirrels for another month.
Get things done around the house before spring turkey season. I like to get most of my outside stuff done while its cold out, I don't usually do much out side in July or August it's just too hot and muggy.
Truck my 10 year old daughter around to hockey practice/games, try to find time to ice fish and downhill ski. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Busiest time for me (which is why you won't see me here much). Remodeling everything and everything under the sun. Currently insulating, sheathing, and finishing electrical in our barn. Hopefully the next owners appreciate all of this.
I have a few more days of elk season. Hopefully, I'll be spending some time processing elk meat. After that I can put more effort in to calling coyotes. Set some traps if the weather allows. Go to an outdoor show. Shoot rabbits. Hike around with my camera. Shoot more rabbits. Start looking for sheds. Maybe kill some geese. Scout for turkeys. Put out trailcams (I've been bad at that this year). Plan the garden.
Count the days until some nice spring time hiking / fishing / mushroom hunting.... We still have until the end of January for waterfowl.. Might try and wack some coyotes this year.
It is the beginning of my busy season for travel, I get to cross one of the few states I have not been to I am going to New Orleans over St Patricks day. From now till summer fly out Tuesday morning get home Thursday night.
What do you have for race car? We are in our busy season at work, so I have been working a lot. Other then that just running my trail cams.
Dirt track street stock. Husband races, though we just acquired a mini stock (challenger) that I may try this summer. I must say, a lot of you don't have down time! I like to think of January-February as my "I can breathe" months. Then it's racecar, turkeys and horses!
Wow, your street stocks sure look different then ours! Here is my last street stock. Here is the one before that..
Work mostly but try to ice fish, cut lots of wood and throw in a dart league on Thursday nights. The Thursday night thing is a blast!!
BD - that's what Pure Stocks are up here. Have a couple tracks that run them. You'll see one or two in with the street stocks, but not a lot. We had one of those bad night's, too...put her back together and two days later had our best finish of the year.
Enjoy.... I ran a drag car from 1983 to 1998 all over GA and the SE......It was a blast at the time, but really wish I had all that $$$$ back...
