Barber....proper tip?

So I have switched from my sister and mother from cutting my hair to a barber.

The dude is great and he charges $15.00.....what is an acceptable tip? $2.00? $5.00?

Just talking haircut here...

I go to great clips... For a $13 haircut I'll tip them $3.

 

I give my barber a $5 tip on an $11 hair cut. I live in a tiny town and his barbershop is like the local mall. You can get a hair cut, get your gun fixed and buy a jug of maple syrup all under 1 roof.

 

My mom's best friend cuts my hair. I think a monkey could cut my hair so the $15 she gets is good enough in my book.

Well that is her full time job. I don't know, it just has never crossed my mind to tip I guess.

 

A 5 dollar tip is roughy about 30% ....that's not out of line.

I would say 3 to 5 is ok.

 

If I pay 12-13 I tip 2-3. 15 I usually do the 5. Gets expensive when you add it up.

 

When me and my two boys go it's $12 each. I give him $45. $3 tip each.

 

lady i go to has been cutting my hair for 13 years. i tip $2 on a $15 haircut.

 

I go to the barber shop and tell her, "I want a hair cut... you can leave the other six alone."
She charges $9 bucks for a senior citizen... I always give her $10.

I tip 25%. For a lot of them, the base rate just pays the bills and they live on the tips.

 

99% of the time I cut my own hair, I don't have much hair, so I tip a few beers after wards. If I really need to look decent I will go to a buddies wifes shop. I will pay her normal rate plus 3-5$ or a couple beers depending if it was during hours or after hours.
