Do any trapping or put up/tan fur. It seems my garage has turned into a room of death. Lol

Sure do. I put out a small line of 16 traps today. I'll be putting another dozen out tomorrow and trying to waylay some coyotes. I'm just now getting started with coyote trapping this year, so hopefully I'll have some pics to share in a couple days.

My son loves to trap, so I got to do some trapping, but when he found out what the fur prices were, especially for coons, he said heck with it. I think he had caught two coons before the news about fur prices.

Yep prices have been poor the last couple years. Especially on coon and the like. You can still make a buck if ya tan em out but not in quantity. Cats are at a premium though.

I will try to put some cat sets out in a week or two. I have about two dozen 160s and 220s I'll put out too. I want to catch a ringtail and spotted skunks while I'm at it. Maybe try for a kit Fox too.
I keep thinking I'm going to really put some steel out... But I get busy with other things.

In the next few days we hope to tag three elk. :)

Actually, if this is a serious offer and you have a fox or raccoon I'd like to make another hat.

I'm on my first year. Right now I only have 4 traps out and I'm having a hell of a time with deer tripping them. Do you have that problem at all? Last check, 3 out of the 4 were tripped and the only tracks in the snow were from deer. Can't catch a yote in a tripped trap

I'm getting traps for Christmas, so I'll have a bunch more to set. The wife is making me wait until Christmas for my present though.

What kind of sets are you using that are getting tripped by deer?

Dirt hole sets. I placed the traps along a well know travel route for the coyotes. Punched a hole and bedded my trap about 8 inches behind the dirt hole. Covered the pan with Peet Moss, and used some dry dirt that I pulled out of a shed. I baited the dirt hole with a gland lure and a bait. Squirted fox piss on the backing. Using MB550's.

I'm going to move the sets, but I've gotta figure out how to keep the deer out of them, or else I'm just wasting my time.

Coon would work, I haven't had many coons show up on our property this year and the fox I've been seeing is elusive. How would I go about paying you for shipping?

hmmm yep that sucks... deer can be curious critters. You might try easing back on some of the lure ( try a set with none, maybe one without piss or lure just bait see what gets tripped and what doesn't)..... worth a shot anyway. Also maybe if ya can try some cubby type sets where the deer would have a harder time getting back to where the trap is place, like back under the edge of a brush pile or something if possible. Or create your own deterrent by hauling a few branches. kinda like a jump stick for a snare. Might take the yotes a few days to get used to it though if it is really out of place (might note bother cats as much). Just my .02

Really crappy check this morning. Just had one coon in a dp and a cable restraint that had been brushed back by a yote. I put a couple fully modified Bridger #2s out this afternoon behind the house where we have been throwing deer carcasses and have pics of coyotes every night. Hopefully I will connect on one tonight.

On a side note, has anybody seen a bobcat scratching post? I think I found one yesterday, but I'm not sure. It was scratched all the way around and from the ground to about waist high. I put a camera on it to see what it is. Here's what it looks like.

I have a few buddies that trap, they were going to take me out this year on the trap lines to get my feet wet. But with the fur price being down they are not setting lines as of yet.

Maybe later or there is always next year. What has the price been on yotes lately?
