Sort of a random question, but curiosity is getting the best of me. How many books do most of you read in any given year (if any at all)? I'm traditionally a seasonal reader which pretty much equates to me reading ONLY when I'm traveling in the summer. I've really enjoyed most of the books I've read in the last few years, and find myself wanting to read a bit more. I really have to make more time (which is the problem most of us have), but I figure during winter instead of plopping in front of the TV to watch more things I don't really need to, I should attempt to read a few more books. I'm finding myself wanting to learn a bit more about a few historical subjects, and in all honesty, I think the internet and the TV I watch is making me a bit less intelligent than I want to be (i.e, I'm becoming an idiot). :D If you want, throw out some suggested reading! I'm looking for anything from hunting (preferably non-fiction/educational) to historical non-fiction, and even some adventure in between (someone on here suggested The River of Doubt a while back and that was excellent).
3 a year. Just finished With the old breed and it was the best book I have ever read. Great war history!
In the last year or so, I started listening to audiobooks while I run. I just got tired of listening to the same music over and over. It usually takes 2-3 weeks to get through one - it's been mostly crime fiction but I'd love to get into some historical non fiction. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I read at least a dozen or so. I never get on a flight without a book. I am bummed that Vince Flynn died, Clive Cussler, Steven King, are a few of my favorites.
I used to read a dozen or so however I don't think I've read one complete book since my son was born 2 1/2 years ago. Just don't have the free time I once did. I left off somewhere in the middle of Stephen King's Dark Tower series. Good thing my Kindle knows where I left of if I ever get around to it again...
I was reading a book every couple weeks for awhile. I have since not picked my Kindle up since moving. I'd say at least a dozen this year.
I used to read a lot. Used to read probably 20+ books a year. I think I stopped back in about 2003 or so when I really started competing in different archery venues a lot. I just didn't have time. Since then the free time just rolled into different hobbies and now between 50-60 hour weeks at work and a kid I have very little time for any hobbies and reading falls pretty low on that list.
It comes out to about 2 books a month. It might be less in the summer but picks up around this time. Currently I am working on the 4 hour series by Tim Ferriss.
It really is sad... But I've read 1 non hunting related book in the last 2 years. I've read 2 books over the last 2 years that focus on whitetail tactics.
Has anyone ever read "The Creature From Jekyll Island" by Griffin? My cousin said it was a deep read with a lot of information.
Last year I listened to a bunch while driving. Atlas shrugged (like 60 hours long) the Monster Hunter series by Larry Corriea. Those were fun. A couple of Glenn Beck books. Michael Vey stuff. The hobbit and one or two other youth-ish type books. Helped keep me awake.
Check out Dr Ken Norberg he wrote several books on old time scouting, measuring beds, poop and hoofprints. Good stuff.
Last flight back from Orlando was on a new plane had all the movies and shows but chose to read the latest steven king instead.
I used to read non stop, especially once I got in college. However, I don't think I have read anything for 2 years. Most of what I had been reading the last few years are old sports (read Moneyball twice for example, before Brad Pitt made it cool), and history books. Wasn't much into fiction anymore.
I hate reading books. When it comes to fictional, the good ones are turned into movies. When it comes to non fiction, documentaries and TV shows offer way better detail and visuals. I don't have a ton of free time, but I typically choose the internet over TV or books when killing time at home.
