The input received by the Indiana NRC is about 65/35 in favor of allowing rifles to be used during the general Indiana fire arms season.

I anticipate this passage of this into law, and maybe as soon as next year.

I personally don't see it changing much for Indiana. We already have 400 yard guns being used as it is with the 358Hoosier rounds.

Has this happened in your state recently, and if so what has effect been in your opinion.

They allowed rifles statewide two years ago here in Wisconsin where previously it was only parts of the state (mostly northern). It has been a non issue.

Now if Indiana allows Xbows during the bow season and rifles during the gun season then you guys will have a big problem.

That already happened two years ago. In all reality the Xbow factor has been a non event too...

i'm not real knowed-up on Indiana but am thinking alot of flat country farm fields??.
if so, rifles WILL have an effect. those deer that stood 2-300 yards out were for the most part safe from shotguns, not they'll be easy pickings.
rifles in wide open farm land like we have in western MN have done ALOTT of harm.
people seem to be real excited about the change at first, then after a few years, they'll be *****ing about "where have all the big buck gone"
    happened here anyway.

Couldn't agree more, my area in Wisconsin went to rifles about 5 years ago, I feel buck especially mature buck populations have suffered. It could be other factors but I think a big part is it makes gun hunters much more efficient.

The deer harvest numbers have declined for ten years, how has rifle hunting contributed to the herd decline? It's only been statewide for the last 2, and in your area for 5 as you said....

Don't think this would ever happen here, too many houses too close together. I don't understand why Indiana would make the change, seems like enough deer are killed every year.

You don't think over harvesting by hunters hasn't been a big part of the reason, and making it easier to harvest deer hasnt contributed?

Xbows in PA are becoming a Pandora's box.

Over harvesting was a real issue for sure, as for making it easier, honestly, no I don't. It was shotgun only during ONLY opening weekend for 90% of the state for years. The rest of the time you could use a rifle.

I'm egh whatever about it...just not happy .308 ARs will be hitting deer woods. I'm a fan of realistic or modest round limits....I mean really? Had a guy in the range talking about how excited he is and ready to "pepper" his fields....he wants to try getting 3 in one sit in a series of shots.

....I couldn't believe what I was hearing or seeing......never thought that level of stupid existed.

Bahahaha! Sad thing couple characters I can think of would use it if they had it.... :) I'm actually a fan of the allowance of um just a fan of implementing a round restriction like waterfowl hunting.

So the 500 round belts we have for it would be a no go?
