Anybody using, having Hevi-shot shells will want to check out an urgent warning from then, link below. Squib load potential due to cold/freezing temps... http://www.hevishot.com/media/Letter_to_our_consumers_11-20-14.pdf ~Bill
But it kills like thors hammer at ungodly ranges. I buy the pellets and load them much cheaper than you can buy the loaded shells.
Don't get me wrong, the vast majority of the ducks I shoot are shot with steel...all handloads BTW.... but for days when the birds don't want to play its time to break out the hevi 4's and kill some birds so the dog can do her thing. Kent makes a great shell and if I didn't hand load that's what I would shoot. Getting back on topic....it doesn't surprise me that hevi is having some problems I've never been a fan of their loads, just their pellets. Back a few years ago they released hevi goose and hevi duck loads. What they didn't tell anybody was they changed the density in the hevi duck loads but were still charging a premium price. Guys had proved that the density was different and they tried real hard to deny it but eventually fessed up. Hard for me to trust a company after that.
