As many of you know, my dog was stolen out of my kennel a while back. Well earlier this week I got a phone call that police had located my dog! Heck yeah. I picked him up that night. After doing a little training work and making sure he was up to par, I took him out hunting wednesday. He did awesome. I shot a limit of pheasant (2 birds here in pa) and he flushed 6 in total in only 2.5 hours. Here is the first cock bird EVER shot over my beagle buddy.
I'm glad you got you dog back but we need some info on HOW they came to find him. Don't leave us hanging.....
Well, I never though I would get him back honestly. But, the guy who stole him sold him to a couple about an hour away from me. They took the dog to the vets to get shots. For some lucky reason, the vets scanned his chip and realized the dog was reported missing. The new owners contacted me themselves and I drove straight up there. They refused to take the $500 dollar reward, so I donated it to the shelter that is attached to the vets office. Should buy plenty of food and treats for other lost dogs.
The best part is, he doesnt just get lucky and kick a few birds. He actively searches for them with his eyes, nose, and ears. Then when he finds them, he starts a loud whine, then barks his head off and circles in until they flush. He even ran down a cripple for me, although he did chew up his head pretty bad haha. All in all, he is more than I could ask for. He runs rabbits pretty well also. But honestly birds get him way more excited. He will run a rabbit solo, but is great in a pack
Oh that's awesome!!! Thank heavens there's still a lot of good folks out there. Did they ever catch the twit that stole him? I hope they nailed his @$$ to the wall.
The wonderful couple that had him gave me the phone number from the guy that sold him to them. I provided that to the police so hopefully they can catch the scumbag
So happy to hear a happy ending! (And a happy hunt to top it off!) I think the little squirt should get used to liking the house!
I never would have thought that someone could steal a man's dog. I must have missed the thread you posted that he was stolen but I'm glad you got him back. It also made me really happy that you still donated the $500 to the shelter. Have fun with him
The money deserved to go somewhere I feel. The people that called me wouldnt take it (even though they paid $200 for the dog) so I figured the shelter could put it to a good cause. This is a testiment to every pet owner....microchip your dogs! Its cheap and it works
