    Interesting experiment, so what's the conclusion, a hungry bear got lucky, is persistent, or is smart enough to figure out electrical circuits?

    I think it's this. You notice how after the 3rd or 4th try he forgets the deer and goes straight for the battery. Tearing it away from the circuit. I feel he was at least smart enough to realize that this foreign object might have something to do with it.

    I don't think the bear had any idea that was the source of the problem. Bears will bump, swat, test bite a lot of things that are out of place or smell funny.

    I don't think the bear was like " battery, this is the source of my problem." But realized there was a foreign object and got rid of it.

    That was pretty cool. I doubt it knew what the problem was exactly, but it at least had enough thought to try something by moving the funny looking thing attached to the tree.
