...and not out hunting - hello!

Board has been slow, understandable. But so is my work. I've done just enough browsing I think of every thread!

Everyone prepared for the up and coming season?

My little Rem is getting big.

That is an adorable picture, but as a person who has had more than one lab, I can't help picturing a much bigger version of him with a leg off of one of the kitchen chairs instead of a little stick. :)

    Yeah, that really happened.

My lab has chewed up roughly 75% of my 2 year old's toys including every last ball of various sizes and materials.

Oh he has already started! But he is responding very well to "No". Except for my leg, ugh. I'm working on that.

My last lab at my parents (he's 8 now) destroyed pretty much everything. Ate the arm off the couch while in his box, ate a few strands of the burlap carpet from wall to wall, remotes, glasses, books, shoes, all the drywall corners.....and he's still alive. Amazing my Mom never killed him.

We are just going to hope he never does that.
Got to love the chewy labs!

Your dog is adorable. They grow up fast. Hopefully that stick will be an antler soon enough! My little guy picked up his first shed around 6 months. He's become a great shed dog.

As is yours. Those faces just get me every time! He found a deer head we have on our coffee table...he liked that. Maybe he will have a fresh antler soon.

Did you have to specifically train your dog to shed hunt or did he just pick it up?

He just loved them. Started playing fetch with an old shed an he loved it. Then from there just walks in the woods and he would find them. Probably not the best method but it worked.

Dogs are very smart - if that worked for you, awesome. I hope something like that will work for me.

Yeah I'm guessing it will. He's a hound lab mix so he's got a great nose and retriever instincts.

He's good at fetch, lol. But, only 9 weeks - he hasn't really been allowed to "explore" yet. He is a quick little bugger. I'm sure he will do just fine with it. Which would be great - I'd love to shed hunt!

Well just in case he does like to eat things he shouldn't you should probably have this website bookmarked and the phone number saved. Animal Poison Control | ASPCA

Beautiful pup PinkPony! Unfortunately I lost one of my bulldogs last week, he hadn't even turned 3 yet but cancer took off throughout his body and nothing we could do. Once I've settled things in my mind and have his remains back home with us, I want to get a lab puppy so his sister Dixie (had her checked out, fully healthy) has a playmate/napping buddy. I've heard labs are a great pal to have which would fit in with how Gus was.

Oh Schuls, how terrible! So sorry to hear that. I'm sure it was very rough. Labs are very loyal and great all around dogs.

DogFish, she's cute. I love how they can just flop anywhere!

GWH, you're lucky. Though a lot of it is being persistant. I'm trying to catch him before he does it with a firm "no". Hopefully catch it before he takes off with anything he shouldn't!

I still think it's a bit soon for me, today only makes a week since I lost him but I'm really considering getting one for her. She seems to be doing fine, good appetite and still gets playful at times (when you can get a Bulldog to wake up) but I'm thinking it would be good to have a playmate for her plus one that I can train for the woods.
