Looks like the majority of farmers around me (Champaign CO IL) are probably going to start this week. The COOP has discounted drying right now so I gotta imagine they will all hit the fields.

Probably going to be a long harvest this year in my area. With high yields and moisture levels still pretty high in the corn I think there will still be people in the fields on Thanksgiving.

Whats it look like in your area?

Looks like wheat in ND is out, beans were started to turn last week. MN seems to be a little behind

They have already started pretty heavy on the corn around me. I believe the first field I saw harvested was on the 8th, and it just happened to be the 40 acres on my west property line. They also combined another approx. 300 acres just down the road. Beans have started to brown down around me, but my plot that was put in a little late is still nice and green. Too bad there never seems to be any time to hunt

Some bean fields are turning here with a couple being close to ready. The bean field that is on the property I hunt by my house is still green and will probably be that way well into October.

I hunt north of you maybe an hour and nothing is out yet. The ground is soaked. I don't remember seeing nothing out this late.

Yeah I don't either. With the projected yields they are talking about it is going to take forever to get all of it done.

I will never feel sorry for a farmer. :)

It will have a huge impact on gun season, but I like it being in for archery.

Just tobacco here. Deer don't give a hoot about tobacco, but they sure love that winter wheat that gets planted after the plants are cut.

One guy has combined about 80 acres of corn near my house. There is still alot of green on the stalks, I'm not sure what his hurry is?

About the only thing out of the fields right now in NE Indiana is the silage corn. Beans are starting to turn and will probably be a few more weeks before they are ready.

The farm I hunt is starting to cut silage this week. They have a few hundred acres they'll take in and should be done in the next three weeks. Just in time to make sure there's no food around for early archery season. :(

A few of the local bean fields are dried up and brown but not many. I'd say 80% of them still have a good amount of green in them. It'll be a few weeks yet before that starts coming out which seems normal.

I've seen some fields being cut for silage where I work, but 20 minutes away, nothing doing yet. Beans are just starting to brown, and most of the corn isn't cut till late in our immediate area. The farmer who leases my parent's ground often doesn't cut until mid November.

A lot of corn is already harvested here. Mine is still a bit wet being planted late. Beans are all still going with some just starting to turn.

We're way behind. Wheat wasn't until the end of August which was about 2 weeks behind. Majority of silage has yet to be started. Earliest beans are still over a week, closer to two weeks away. We got a killing frost in some parts of MN (luckily not here) so we're a little rough right now. Going to be a really late harvest this year so goodbye to a lot of my hunting time.

Talked to a buddy of mine that works for ADM in Bismark 2 weeks ago and he said the wheat crop was only at about 20% then.

Stopped up at the local COOP this morning and they said the average moisture for corn they are taking in right now is 24%. The only reason guys are going right now is because of the discounted drying rates.

I am not to worried about bow season but it will be interesting to see how this effects some of the guns seasons in certain states.

There will be a lot of whining in MN again this year because of the corn still being in during gun season.
