I am looking for a holster for an M&P 9mm and do not know the first thing about them? I will only be carrying the pistol while hunting so I dont need anything fancy for concealed carry. I am thinking Cheap and nylon would suit me just fine! I would like something simple that I can slip on my backpack shoulder or waist strap and then take off and slip on my pants while I am sitting or walking without my pack? I will more then likely just leave it attached to my backpack for the most part but would like the option to wear on my side if need be. Here is the kicker, I hardly ever wear a belt on my hunting pants and don't intend to start so what are my options? Any input appreciated
I like the bulldog holster for open carry in the woods. Is nylon and has a metal clip that goes on easy but stays in place(w/o a belt) plus has a magazine pocket to carry an extra mag.
Bulldog Extreme Belt Clip Holster Ambidextrous 1911 Officer Glock 17 This is the one you'll need if it's the M&p9(same holster as glock 17, 4" 1911, etc) w/4.25" barrel. A blistering $13.50.
i too have a bulldog for my ruger .40, offers good protection and the clip holds like a mo-fo, even without a belt
Another vote for the Bulldog. I have one for my Glock 17 and use it just as you said you would like to. No problems.
I use a Blackhawk serpa holster and they work very well. It is a very secure hold (even without a belt) with little movement and easy access to the side arm.
If the Bulldog clips on as well as everyone says, then I suppose that will be the one for me! Thanks guys thats exactly what I was looking for. Simple, Cheap but will do what I need! The Serpa looks like a nice holster as well and if I ever find myself needing to carry on my side more often, then I will look into picking it up as well. Thanks again all
Serpa offers retention and is made from tough polymer. It's the law enforcement standard. Even our duty holsters are serpa level 3. The paddle should hold on your back pack straps. If you plan on open carrying a lot, the serpa would definitely be the better choice. Having said that, I use a MDJ (crossbreed style) holster for concealed carry. In my line of work, I don't have the choice not to carry off duty so I'm gonna be safe & comfortable.
Blackhawk Serpa... I prefer the belt mount over the paddle mount, but if you don't wear a belt the paddle is very effective as well
i do also have a blackhawk sporster, but had to go with the bulldog after adding an under barrel laser.
