Our September early goose season opens up next weekend here in Minnesota and I imagine soon if not already elsewhere. Post up your pictures and stories from this years waterfowl season!
Ours starts Monday (September 1). It'll be my first year going out. However, it wont be until the end of next month. I just have too much going on. Look forward to hearing from others. When I asked a question about it seemed like there were a lot on here who enjoyed it!
Opening day for me is sept 1st goose only. Already have birds scouted and patterned in a few different areas. Should be a great opening day.
Dude... Our early goose starts sept 1st. Ill teal is sept 6th. TN wood duck/teal is sept 13th. Our wood duck teal starts sept 17th. Oct 1st I leave for our ND trip. Let the madness begin!!!!! I'll post some pics. It seems like there is a bow opener in there somewhere to GWH3...how does the duck production look in MN? We get a lot of ducks out of there so hopefully there was a good hatch.
MN decided against an early teal season. To me, I didn't care one bit but it sure made a lot of other guys around here pretty upset. If I remember correctly, all of the duck numbers were supposedly down this year although I haven't seen any less through the summer as I normally do. I believe the goose numbers were up though.
I see that duck numbers are down in MN but in the PPR(prairie pothole region) duck numbers are the 2nd highest on record. I was hoping that MN had a good hatch, you know, since we get a lot of ducks from there. Here is a link to the 2014 duck numbers 2014 Waterfowl Breeding Population Survey Whats the limit on early geese in MN?
In two weeks I'm driving a few hours south to hunt our teal opening weekend, it will be my first water fowl hunt so I'm pretty pumped about it.
Wisconsin approved an early teal season this year and it starts next Monday!! 7 day season only but I am excited to see how it goes. Hopefully everyone is patient and identifies their ducks before blasting away so we don't lose the opportunity in the future. Early goose opens for us on Monday as well so we have a couple options out in the boat for next week Can't wait for Sep 13th as well....archery and grouse opens up......gotta love September!
I honestly cannot remember. I've had it for quite a long time. I believe K200...but I'll look when I get home. I love it though. It's not a well known brand, but it's an awesome camera (at a lower price) but great quality. Won many photography contests using it!
My girlfriend graduated from college in May and I bought her one. Looking at getting a better lens so far away pictures turn out better. What do you have for a lens and are you happy with it?
It is a K2000 model. As for lenses I just have the 18-55 that came with it then a 55-300mm F4-5.8. Both are Pentax. I was told you can use other brands, I just never have. I am hoping to get a telescopic lens in the near future as nature photography and landscapes are my favorite. There is a site online where you can rent and try various ones out. I can get you a link if she'd just like to try some out before purchasing. I believe you get ten days with it. My aunt has done it many times, I personally never have.
I couldn't be more excited for this year of waterfowl hunting. Our season is the same (Sept 1 and Sept 6). I'm hopiny my buddy can get a day off work, we have a teal spot that is good to get a limit. I've been making my own calls and have a lot more gear for this year. Should help greatly. I am definitely going to deer hunt, but I'm way more excited about the waterfowl.
Got to spend a few hours in the shop tonight. Made my personal best. It's a cocobolo barrel and clear acrylic insert. It's not perfect and it looks a little hazy from blowing in it immediately before the picture. The picture doesn't so it much justice.
