I just finished my 3 mile run for today. I did it in 26:15 which is a heck of an improvement over my usual pace. Then again, I set out with the intention of pushing it. I have to say that it's easier to run having shed just a touch over 30 pounds. The last two six mile runs I did the last two weekends resulted in a 10 minute mile pace but the objective there for me was to get the distance and not speed. Sorry for posting this here. I know the vast majority of you don't care at all about this, but I want to keep the folks here who sponsored me updated on my progress. :D
Good for you Chief, I feel so much better now that I have started running and working out about 2 months ago. My shooting also has gotten better. Keep it up!!
I thought I was doing good. On a quarter mile track you would have lapped me 4 times. That's impressive.
Well, I don't really have a set goal for 3 miles. The training program for the half-marathon on December 6th has me running 3 miles on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday. Saturday is 6 miles. That's this week, though. From this point forward it increases and peaks the first week of November, when it's 5 miles on Monday, 6 on Wednesday, 5 on Thursday and 13 miles on Saturday. Like I said in another thread, I don't know yet how I'll work that in during prime hunting time, but I'll figure it out. Honestly, I'd like to get to an 8 minute mile on the shorter runs and I'll be happy if I can average a 10 minute mile for the half-marathon. At this point I think both of those goals are possible for me.
Congrats! I've been hitting the gym pretty hard but need to start running more, looks like time to buy some new shoes considering my old running shoes are falling apart.
Yea your not far from the 8 min pace. One way I trained myself to run faster is use a treadmill. Good luck!
i did a 3 mile today(ram style) in a little over 3 minutes. All jokes aside that is pretty impressive. i never did do long distance running, in track i did the jumps. long jump, triple jump, pole vault, and high jump. all these require very little running so i practiced some with the sprinters.
