Yes its true, 500,000 people with no water to drink. Luckily I have a well with reverse osmosis system, but I have a pile of friends and family without. Kids cannot bath and boiling makes it worse. if it can happen here, it can happen anywhere. its caused from an algae bloom it Lake Erie, the bloom is caused by run off from farmer fields, waste water and other pollutants. fun stuff here for sure;(
I drank the water, showered in it, and made coffee with it. I'm still alive. I have a feeling we have had these levels of the microcystins in our water for years without any testing.
Just had it checked We're good. We get it checked every 3 months. Here drink up, this is what is getting pumped in, looks yummy
So glad to live in an unincorporated township in the middle of nowhere my well is unaffected by all that other stuff
Why anyone would trust a gov't employee to get the water right is beyond me, they can't fill potholes properly why would they get water right?
On a daily basis there a ton of local government employees that work their butts off to make our lives easier. Maybe you should use your vast intellect to solve all of your communitys problems instead of making those type of comments.
Lets worry about these two in bold before we go blaming farmer runoff. Hope the problem gets resolved either way.
It's not just farmer run off, it's the fertilizer we use on our lawns, well not me. I don't waste money on grass. Farming run off is a issue that will be looked at and should be. It's scary the stuff I have seen dumped in the rivers, by my own family throughout the years.
We get the algea blooms here every summer, some years are worse than others. This year hasn't been too bad thus far.
Unfortunately, the majority of the phosphorous making its way into Lake Erie is from ag run off. No one wants to see farmers suffer because of this, but something needs to be changed.
