http://www.fieldandstream.com/blogs...rt-16foot-anaconda-on-the-loose-in-new-jersey Apparently there is a 16 foot anaconda in my favorite fishing lake. Is it just me or is it ridiculous that they haven't caught it yet. Been over 2 weeks. And with my luck with snakes I don't want to be fishing there. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Pretty cool story. Like everyone said...it wont survive the winter anyways. And im pretty sure Anacondas cant get 30ft long, i thought that was pythons?
Yeah I'm pretty sure it's around mid 20s not 30. And it won't survive the winter but that's a long way away Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Seems like it. What I don't get is if it is someone's pet that they released, wouldn't it be accustomed to humans and not very likely to attack? In the local news the snake expert said he tried to catch it and it swam through his legs. Sounds like it just wanted to get away and isn't very aggressive. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
A snake expert? And he let a snake that bites people swim through his legs? I would think you guys would be cringing at that thought.
Most snakes that size aren't handled regularly after a certain size. They're normally kept in a closet or a spare bedroom and tossed food when they get fed. An 8 foot snake is intimidating, couldn't imagine a 16 foot starting to coil on me. I really don't know about the temperament of anacondas, they're not very common for pets and I'm not even sure they're legal? Snakes that size take a lot of food to sustain. After awhile they get hungry and start escaping or turn aggressive in the search for food. Add in pets in the home and that scent on humans can lead to aggressiveness.
Not to mention at over 4 square miles this lake has plenty if food to sustain a large aquatic snake. Not to mention conceal him very well Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Here's the link to the expert letting the snake swim through his legs. http://www.dailyrecord.com/story/ne...t-lake-hopatcong-boa-green-anaconda/12859459/ Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Again At the tail end of that article REWARD: The Daily Record will pay $250 to the first person who can provide us with a photo or video of the boa constrictor said to be living in Lake Hopatcong. Contact Joe Ungaro at 973-428-6624 or at [email protected]
Multiple sources have confirmed it as an anaconda. The lake is surrounded by homes and it is sleeping in the boat houses. My 4 year old cousin lives on the lake. They need to cut the bull crap about trying to safely relocate it and kill the thing. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
