Haven't seen mention of it unless it's in another forum. Sunday nights on History. It's pretty good for what it is, Kodiak brown bear, but the theatrics could lighten up a bit. All in all its a bit different than what a lot of the reality based shows are like. Hopefully if there is a second season they can work out the kinks and maybe focus more on the hunts than the dangers and what -ifs.
Yea that guide was not impressed... it was comical to see these folks trying to hunt in Alaska waste of time for the guide...
Yeah, the lazy crew were hilarious. I think they were more expecting to get hauled in on a 4 wheeler and put in a stand to sit for the day. Not sure how much one of those hunts cost and how long they had to wait to get drawn but they definitely didn't treat it as if it was an opportunity of a lifetime. I cringed when the guy on the boat said he'd like to take the 250yd shot. Glad he decided that it just wasn't worth taking that chance with an unstable shooting position even though it was comfortably within his range. The sow and cubs that came up behind the bow hunters would have been an intense moment as well, they're lucky they had a camera guy with them that time.
I love the show! Some of the intensity just cannot be faked...that one episode where the couple bagged the sow charging them...was intense. Cannot believe that guy had put his name in 10 years and the first year he put his wife's in she got drawn....BUT WHY DID THEY BRING SO LITTLE AMMO...they emptied all but 3 rounds they had left when the bear charged!!!
Yeah, that couple was a bit ill prepared considering the circumstances of the hunt. Not only did they all but run out of ammo on a charging boar, they also ran out of fresh water half way through their trek. One would think a hunt like that you would have some tablets or something to purify the water in an event like that. It was her first ever hunt afterall, not just bear hunt but first hunt of any kind. They were very fortunate that the husband was in a position to be able to fire on the bear, I think it was his shots that ultimately put the bear down. Show has real potential, hopefully they renew the series and focus on less groups per episode. Still don't like the theatrics of running the cameras through the brush and grass trying to hype the intensity. I think most people that watch it probably understand the dangers of it all.
There's a few archers in there. One group got within 30 yds, but his string came off the wheels as he tried getting in position while the boar was staring them down.
Not gonna lie, I LOVE bow hunting...would hunt pretty much anything in North America with one...EXCEPT Kodiak Brown Bear. I would be packing a BMG for those freaking things. 10+feet potential and capable of closing a gap of 50 yards before you work your bolt let alone get on target.....no thanks hunting with a bow.
I recorded it not knowing it was all bear hunting (my own fault). I am not against bear hunting but watching bears get shot is at the bottom of my list for entertainment. Just my opinion.
I've watched a few episodes. I don't watch many hunting shows anymore but I think this one is better than 90% of them that I have seen in the past.
