Took a nice hiking / fishing trip this morning and just wanted to share a few pics. This is a small stream which doesn't get stocked with trout so catching a native brown trout this size is pretty decent for this spot.
you sure you weren't in my backyard ! nice looking places you have there. My Back yard looks about the same. Hutch
Great fish Slider... I was surprised to see spinning equipment verses fly fishing tackle. So you probably caught it on a Mepps?
Thanks! Close, it was a small 1/16oz fly spinner. Gold blade and olive/tan fly combo. They come with a tiny treble hook stinger but I cut two of them of so it's just the main hook and a single on the back. I also flatten the barbs. I've found that all those little barbed hooks can really do a number on these smaller stream fish and I like to release them as undamaged as possible. *Edit - I do have a fly rod packed away and there's a nice fly-only trout stream at the other end of the lake. Just have to get it unpacked and check everything out one of these days
I was going to ask if you released it and then forgot. Awesome job man... and great photos. I actually have the 5th one currently set as the wallpaper on my laptop - it's so pretty and peaceful looking.
