When I was in Boulder last week I saw a bumper sticker that said Jesus is a liberal. It kind of dumbfounded me once I started thinking about it. I never thought of any religious symbol being either a Republican or a Democrat, each party has views that follow the bible and some that don't. What's your thoughts on this? How could he be one and not the other?
I think that person is going to have some serious explaining to do when Jesus asks him or her why he/she was speaking for Jesus... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Jesus acts more like a democrat/liberal to me, than a conservative. One big thing that comes to mind is giving money to the poor and spreading out wealth.
What about hard work and treating others with respect rather than cheating the system to take free money from those who pay taxes? I may be wrong but I don't ever remember reading about Jesus taking the easy way out... I think Jesus acts Holy and Godly and acts like every man woman and child should act regardless of their political party.
I dont think Jesus addressed it that much in depth in the bible = ) But he did give money to the poor and I believe those who didn't do hard work. Though doing so doesn't mean he approved of it. Hey im more conservative than liberal despite what you may think and I have several crossover views, just in my mind with what I know/think, he would be characterized as a liberal.
Yes He could have been more liberal, and in a perfect world liberal may be the best politcal party, but the fact is when it comes to our world its far from perfect. With people that don't follow God's rules on same sex marriage, drug use, abuse of any kind, financial, physical, verbal, a liberal just wont get the job done. Doesnt mean a conservative should give help to those who truly need it, but its to the point where how do we know who really needs the help and who is abusing the system?
The first issue that came to mind was abortion, liberals tend to lean more towards pro choice and gay marriage I know most christian organizations frown on that. Here is the link to the web site: Jesus Is A Liberal - Home Page
Utah is probably the most conservative state there is. It's also the most charitable. The people here give out more to charity than any other state. My town is the polar opposite of liberal but if you showed up here, broken down and needing money, food... you would absolutely get help. Liberals take from others to 'give'. That's not charity. That's theft.
I've actually looked into this a bit. I think the reason Utah is the most charitable is because they say the Mormon church gives to charity more than any other church, but they take into account the fact that Mormons give a certain amount of their income to the church and count that towards their charitable givings. So its sort of misconstrued.
Im with you man. But it wasn't until recently that many conservatives condemned, killed, harassed, whatever to gays. To me, conservatives didn't follow the "love all" and more followed "condemn all who don't believe in the things I don't do" Something Jesus would not have done. Not to say there aren't those extremist hippies either : \ I would much rather have universal healthcare and easy living and loving, but that's not the way this world works. Actually it's more America than anything, other countries have too much pride or a good culture, we've strayed far from it. My parents love Jews and Mormons, not quite sure what they think of Muslims but im pretty sure since they value education and their morals in life, that they like them. My parents are racists and stereotype like crazy FYI. Anyways, you guys are probably aware of the show "what would you do" with john quinones. I forget most of the scenario, but this girl was talking to her "boyfriend" about having had sex before marriage. Man wherever they were at in Utah, they had some real judgemental people (most likely mormons) who would not comfort her or give her any kind of sympathy. Kind of off topic with everything I just wrote, but trying to point out charitable isn't all about money.
I tend to think it is insulting to Jesus to imply that he is on any political side more than the other. He is the son of God, I doubt he wants to be viewed as liberal or conservative.
