I gave up RockStars a long time ago and posed the question to an M.D. once that revolved around, "What is this and is it bad?" His reply was a handful of candy and a few cups of coffee wrapped in a can. The water quenches my thirst these days along with coffee once in a while and the need to be "up" is nonexistent with good eats and hard work. Perhaps it was the trend or what "the boys" were into but these days I really don't miss having the energy drinks. Kids today are overboard with consumption of these drinks. The consequences are beginning to pop up on the radar. Your two cents? Go Baby! Go! ----> SsssWACK!
I hear ya sota about the soda. I have cut that also but still take a case of Mt. Dew in the cooler when in the Backcountry.
Why wife has been eating healthy and that means I am eating healthy. No fast food, weird once you quit eating the crap if you do happen to have a weak moment, fast food really does taste like crap, too salty.
I gave up soft drinks 10 years ago.. I average 6-10 bottles of water a day now. Best thing I ever did.. Side note about the energy drinks... Once or twice a week we have someone get dizzy, have rapid heart beat or even faint out on the shop floor because of over consumption of energy drinks..
I love water, pretty much all I drink. My dad never would buy us soda, if he did it was always that sugar free stuff. I thought after all the water I consumed in the Army that I would want something new, but I prefer it. I do not like syrupy drinks. Water is natures energy drink if you stay hydrated properly. I do like Root Beer and will have one every once and a while.
I had an energy drink once and the feeling I had was not worth it. I never even finished it. Felt like I was going to have a raging heart attack. Do I drink soda? Guilty. Though, only every once in awhile. I rather water, juice, or milk. To the parents that allow their children to have them....shame on them! Government needs to stop blaming McDonalds, unhealthy school cafeterias, etc. It is the parents fault that we have the problems we do with 80% (benefit of the doubt) of the children nowadays.
I used to live off of energy drinks... I will still use a 5 hour energy or something stronger when I need a little boost. I've drank coffee so long that caffeine doesn't affect me. Mostly coffee and water for me now though.
Join the army. We use all kinds of things. I believe not enough water intake with those drinks causes kidney stones. I rarely drink sugary drinks, soda I've probably only had 2L worth in the past 5 years. Beer on the other hand... Man how rich I would be without alcohol. I'm going to try this month to go without buying alcohol.
I have never touched one and never will. All you have to do is read the ingredients on the can to know better.
When I was 19 I slammed back three in a row(I think they were monsters or no fear) on a 12 hour trip to CO. I thought my heart was going to jump out of my chest. Scared me pretty good. 10 years later an I haven't drank one since. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I537 using Tapatalk
And the worst part is - that's probably the feeling these younger kids are enjoying. I too felt that, I will never touch one again.
I have never had the feeling or experience of "my heart jumping out of my chest"... I'm sure I would feel a whole lot differently about them after going through something like that.
I've never had Monster or Red Bull, but I've drank 5hr energy shots for early morning hunts. They didn't make me jittery, but they taste awful.
I haven't had soda in about 3 years. I've only had 1 energy drink along time ago and it didn't do anything. I drink 1 or 2 cups of coffee with just cream in the morning followed by a glass of low sodium v8 then all water all day except for a Gatorade at work in the summer. Plus beer.
I had my last Rock Star a little over two hours ago. I usually go for the no carb ones but they are full of crap that isn't good for you.
