For years when I was younger I spent many a late night out wading ponds and streams in search of the elusive bull frog..

Nothing quite as sweet as fresh mess of deep fried frog legs and union rings served up with fresh sweet corn to make you forget the bug bites and nasty falls chasing them little dudes!

My SIL's have talked me into making a trip tonight. They have never done it and are excited to give it a try.

It should be a hoot!

I got the Q beam, 10 foot gig and my special 20 ft frog net waiting in the boat ready for tonight's adventure..

Any of you still frog gig?

It's been about 10 years since I last went. I can't gig frogs for some reason, I always miss lol. I used a net last time I went and got 5 or 6.

I agree gigging isn't easy.. I have a frog net that I built out of a fish net and a pool pole... Reaches out about 20 ft.. Had better luck with it than the gig.. I always have to go digging in the slop and mud with a gig to get the little buggers and sometimes the gig pulls out..

I'm thinking them boys are in for some enlightenment tonight.. they seem to think it should be easy... :)

Started here on the 15th. Stepped out last night about 10 pm and they were lighting it up in my two ponds...

Going to save the pond to gig last tonight, so we should get some action...

Take away my man card.. but I can't kill bullfrogs. We have 2 family ponds and a few more around the property and I've never killed one. I love hearing them at night.

A real man catches frogs with his hands anyways ;)

I thought about that.. But I hate chasing deflected arrows in the dark.. Guess luminocks would help with that

I went once years ago, didn't have much success. I'd like to go again, I need to recruit some partners because to do it right I need to go to some places I won't want to be alone in the dark at.

Results of tonight's adventure-- Boys 6 Dad 2.

Just enough for one of us to have a good dinner.. drew straws & I lost... but I did get the pleasure of cleaning them. :(

Gotta say I had forgotten what a work out it was to jump out of the boat to dig one out of the mud...
