Poll: Half of Illinois residents would move from the state if they could - chicagotribune.com http://www.washingtonpost.com/news/...lace-to-live-say-people-who-live-in-illinois/ Is Illinois really going to see 19% of it's population move in the next 12 months? Are things this bad in Illinois? Would 50% really move if they could? Wtf! Do 25% really hate living in Illinois? Geesh....
I wouldn't want to live in Illinois. Isn't Illinois one of the strictest gun law states? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
The problem is the majority of the states population lives above I-80. Even if the rest of the state wants change you have to convince the Chicago majority as well and we have all seen in the past this is not easily done. Maybe with the high crime rates, schools closing, bad gov spending the people of Chicago may finally see the light and help make change. As far as leaving IL goes, If I could make the jump to Indiana I would. But we have family there so its not like its just because of the shape IL is in.
I don't blame them but that's what happens when the people vote in morons. Anywhere that has high taxes and horrible gun restriction I expect people to leave.
Kendall and I moved out last year. At least three of our friends (and their spouses ) moved out that year as well. I have at least three friends that I know of that are moving out in the next year. All very conservative/libertarians. We all voted. We wrote our legislators. We went to rallies. There is some point when you realize that it just doesn't matter. Our votes don't matter, our voices are not heard. We made our final vote with our feet and walked away from the mess. I really don't think there is anymore hope for Illinois. Those who can move, are moving. They're taking their skills and tax $$ with them. This makes it harder on the working folks still there. (How many tax increases is IL tossing around right now? Income, pop, gas, real estate..) At least $175 Billion in debts. It has the worst credit rating of any state. But I can sympathize with the fear of FIBs moving into (and contaminating) other states. Any Illlinoian who is sympathetic to the progressive policies that have ruined Illinois should not be allowed to leave. :D
The current governor won by carrying 3 of 102 counties. Just three. He boasted that it was a 'Mandate' and immediately raised the income tax 67%. Three counties..... The previous two governors served jail time for their corruption. No surprise that current Gov. Quinn is now under investigation as well. Yay! Illinois!
All voting here sucks because Chicago/Crook county controls everything. I would love to head out and hopefully soon we will be on our way to GA or TN
The only ones who want to leave are the ones you'd want to have in your state. Like me. If the day ever comes where we go fully virtual and don't have to come into an office every day I'm heading over the border to WI. Heck, I may even move next to Dan so I can egg his house when I get bored. Until then I will pay my high taxes, drive on my congested roads and complain about the State government like the rest of the FIBs.
But once people like you leave and the libs have to carry the brunt of the high taxes that the working class conservatives were carrying, their going to move out of like a termite swarm. Keep the status quo over there.
I can't move north, south, east, or west? Thanks, pricks. In all seriousness, my wife and I are seriously considering.......Colorado! And, Montana, and, Wyoming!!!!! Anything west
Wyoming is awful I tell you... just take a drive on I-80 across the state and you'll see... it's just terrible :D
12 short months til I head west... Illinois is literally the last state I'd want to live in behind only Connecticut.
