I went to a local Jack-in-the-Box for lunch. I was next in line to place my order when an elderly lady that could barely walk received her order to go. Apparently she ordered for at least two people due to the size of the bag and she had two drinks. She was barely able to carry it. And she went to leave I noticed many people were not moving out-of-the-way so she can get through. Frustrated I left my place to order and opened the door for her and helped her carry her food and drinks to her car. When I got back inside I was about number five in line. It didn't bother me that I was that far back at that point I was more aggravated that nobody would at least move for the lady. The man in front of me turned around and said "I would have helped but I'm in a hurry". At this point I became furious and in guess it showed because he immediately turned back around.

How selfish have we gotten as a society that we can't even move one step to help somebody else. If that was my grandma or mom I would be beyond livid. Maybe it's just how some of us are raised? Either way, we will all get to that point in our lives (if we are lucky). How would we want people to treat is at that point.

I'm still highly irritated by the way.

Good for you for helping her. Hopefully your act of kindness will inspire one of the bystanders to do something the next time.

For some reason I thought the moral of this story was to not be an elderly person ordering food for 2 people inside Jack in the Box if you can barely walk back out to your car.

I think this situation sums up the underlying problem that is causing so many issues in our country today. People care about themselves only. It's already bringing down our country, and I don't know how it will ever change.. The only thing that I think will help are the random acts of kindness like what you did. Hopefully it will spread to everyone that saw you help out. Maybe Next time they go out for lunch they will do the same thing you did and more people will see it.

    Sounds good on paper

I just did the math, If you do 3 nice things for 3 different people today, and they did the same tomorrow for 3 new people, and so on, in 21 days everyone in the world would be affected by the nice acts, and actually 3 billion people (roughly) would get hit up twice.

It is because too many people feel life is about them and them alone.

You pay it forward without consideration to whether or not others do and you will be remembered long after those others are dust.

If enough people do it, sooner or later the self centered people will want in on it to see what all they hype is about.
