Ocracoke Island, NC Who has been ? I used to go there as a young whipper snapper and loved it. Thinking about going back this summer, but I don't remember much aside from the awesome beaches and horrible Mosquitos on the campground we stayed at. Thanks
I use to go there as a kid, it was a great hidden gem. I went a few years ago when it got voted as the best beach in USA ( including Hawaii ), and it was flooded with people. It was starting to become a tourist trap and wasn't like it use to be. But I still love it there.
I have been there and I love it. It still is the best beach in the USA. You just have to pick the right time to go. Avoid the popular holidays an you will be good. It still is really nice there.
Another little hidden gem of NC is Ocean Isle. It's separated for the main coast by the intercostal waterway. Very nice houses to rent. It's not commercialized and doesn't have hotels. It's has one hotel that's a little cottage more than a hotel. If you want touristy drive south less than an hour to Myrtle Beach SC. Check it out.
