price of pork

    Of course the price of pork is up as much as 50% right before summer and when I do all my smoking. Does anyone have any tips for getting better prices?

    I'm afraid you're SOL. A virus has decimated many piglet populations. Supply is down, demand is the same, prices will go up.

    Check with a local butcher or meat market. I usually get mine from there. It's a little cheaper for me rather than the stores. Not much, but I go through a ton and it adds up.

    I heard about the virus, I also heard it is the worst over the winter months but the damage is already done though. There are no ferrel hogs here to hunt either, damn those tasty pigs.
