Boone and Crockett: Trophies taken with assist of drones ineligible for record book - JSOnline Not suprising that B&C will reject drone use. What do you think about using drones? Would you do it if legal?
With the help of my cell phone, gps, (10) trail cameras, atv, truck, & google earth I would consider a drone a down grade.
I want a drone, then we argue about the best brand..... I am thinking a drone poll is coming to a thread soon.
No to drones.... but if I get another doe antelope tag and the speed goats are as skittish as they were last year... I'm not above picking one off at 1000+ yards with the lapua. :D
Drone bad, but ok to rent a helicopter to scout bedding areas.... I actually just suggested this to a friend who's office has a drone
I don't understand how a drone is much different than a trail cam? And I certainly don't understand how it isn't fair chase.
Ok. I'll play. Trailcam is not mobile. You set it and something has to walk in front of it. If you pay lots of money the camera sends you pictures real time. Batteries only last so long before you have to walk there and change them. Drone. Covers your whole hunting grounds. Can't find any deer? Keep looking until you find some. Drone flys back and you can charge it and send it back out without ever needing to step foot on hunting grounds. Not saying you can't use a drone. Just saying they are different.
Could you imagine your neighbors knowing you are not at home or at the cabin and flying a drone over your hunting grounds and food plots to check out what deer you have using it?
Good idea!!!! They could use a drone to push deer of your land, holy cow. What a mess this will become.
Drone hunting - mount a 50cal. on that baby and go hunting. How cool would that be huh? How about just calling up Amazon and giving them the coordinates of your hunting area after purchasing a video camera from them. Just have 'em unpack it and mount it to the drone and report back to you. hehehehehe Helicopter??? Now there's an idea. Oh... wait a minute! I have a cousin who is a hot air balloon owner/pilot. I gotta' call him... bye.
Wasn't there just a ruling about flying drones over private property? I seem to remember a case where a guy kept flying over this woman's house with his drone spying on her but the cops couldn't do anything because you don't own the airspace.
I can see ALL kinds of problems arising from the public starting to use drones. Sent from my SCH-I545 using Tapatalk
Your telling me ......They go public I am buying stock in every company that has anything to do with DNA testing.
Hillbilly Bob is not going to care about that court ruling instead he is going to grab his double-barreled shotgun and blast away into the sky. I have to admit that I would not be too happy either if a neighbor started scouting my land with a drone. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I'm confident within two years we will see drones at the deer expos for sale. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Let's take bets on what hunting based company is the first to sign on and sell them.... We can archive a thread and first on with the correct answer and time stamp will win....a autographed picture of his wife sunbathing in the yard....signed thanks for the memories Love Barak Obama
Being that I am more of a photographer than a hunter anyway along with the fact that I have access to quite a bit of land that only I hunt, I am gonna play around with it in the next few months. I already have a GoPro camera and a drone that has line of sight capability of roughly 328 yards costs around $500. Not sure how trees come into play with " line of sight" distances, but it will be fun to experiment with. I am not sure it will be able to get low enough in bedding areas to pick anything up as the Gopro is very wide angle and not too telephoto. And if you can get it close enough to see detail, will it spook the deer? Time will tell. I will share video, good or bad.
