Just curious if anyone else is doing this and what they are paying. The lawn here is a lot larger than the one we had at the place we sold in NY, would probably take 3+ hours to mow with my push mower, it's probably around .75 acre.

I'm seriously thinking about paying someone to do it for me as I don't want to buy a rider right now, and also would rather spend the time in the summer with my family or on the boat fishing. We are also renting the new place out here as it's only a few year gig before we go back to NY, so I'm not hell bent on curb appeal, just want it to look respectable.

Any thoughts? What would this cost in your neck of the woods?

Think its like $30 something for .5 acre my mom pays at her place. I provably should go do It for her but don't have a lot of time when weathers nice out with work.

Complains about spending money on a cap for his truck, pays someone to mow his grass.

It'll prob cost you in the burbs. Either find a landscape company, they'll be in and out or a high school kids who would appreciate I but getting them to show up regularly is a challenge these days. Landscapers will cut trim and clean
    up.

Well I dont pay someone but they pay me;) I own a lawn care business and the average rate in Michigan is around 60-65 an hour without seeing but saying it would take 3hrs with a push mower a commercial company could prob get done in under a hour. Hope you find a good company.

When I first moved in my House I didn't have a mower, so I paid a Landscape company $40. to cut grass about on about 3/4 acre. They would cut, trim, and clean up branches and debris which was great and it gave me a lot more time. As soon as I got a mower it took me 2-3 hours to do what they would do in 30 min.

    Lol.

I couldn't pay someone to do that, but I see your logic.

I pay $25 to a friend who cuts it with a nice expensive mower. It's much quicker and cutting damp grass is no longer an issue like it was with my POS push mower. It was a major time saver for me.

Although I have a mower, I have a landscaper come and cut our lawn and do the edges with a string trimmer.
They come as needed which amounts to on average about every other week.
Three guys it takes them a third of the time it would take me.
At one point I figured I was spending about 8 hours a month.
For me it's cheaper to pay someone

3/4 acre would take 30 to 45 minutes with a small zero turn.

Takes me less than an hour and I have just under an acre.

    I have a 42" zero turn Cub.

Just something to think about because I imagine landscapers are pretty high in your area.

    Can you still do that?

I hired a neighbor kid to do mine once just because he asked. He never showed.

Not anymore if it's a decent sized yard I'm probably going to try and get at least $40. Stuff isn't cheap anymore and $20 is what it use to be even to younger kids.

Buy a lawn tractor and a case of beer and cutting the grass is enjoyable.
