What's the obsession with Buffalo Wild Wings? The food is subpar, service is crappy and they serve the same the same Miller, Budweiser and Coors products as every other chain restaurant out there. Is it their big TVs? Can someone please explain this to me.

Funny thing is... I agree with every point you made yet I still LOVE it.

For me it's all the different sauces, etc.

You forgot pretty high prices too.

I love the wings and the sauces they offer. I don't like wings from a lot of places but I do like Bdubs.

I almost always drink domestic beers when out anyway especially when eating hot wings so the beer selection doesn't bother me.

The service is average IMO. Not bad and not subpar.

What I think I hate most about BWW is the noise. It's always so damn loud in there.

I was also just joking about Hooters. There food is not good, it's also very over rated.

I'm with ya, totally overrated. Same with Applebee's! All there food is like a cheap crappy appetizer.

    all of them

but the king of overrated chains is In & Out. It gets hype even with so-called foodies, and I just do not get it.

How did these places get to be chains by serving crappy food?

I've never heard of In & out. But Arby's is probably mine. I just don't understand their crappy food and what the appeal is.

Same reason all chains are successful

    they are cheap and familiar

people like safe, the Applebees in my town will have the same menu and the same items and they will all taste the same as the Applebees in your town.

I agree with familiar. I don't think chains are cheaper for the most part. Like Bdubs. Their prices are actaully quite higher than locally owned places. Same with Applebees for the most part. We spend just as much there as small local places to eat.

But how did they go from small to a familiar with crappy food?

They don't start out with crappy food. They most likely started off as legit, but as they grew, they had to cut costs, and need to keep consistency throughout their restaurants, so they have to go with SISCO and more pre-produced items and frozen meats.

Plus marketing has A LOT to do with it as well.

I'm not a fan of wings but have been to BWW several times. Like others said, overrated. The one that baffles me is Ruby Tuesdays. Food is terrible, over priced and not many menu choices.

as an example, we have a breakfast/lunch cafe that started here in my town, but now has about 25 restaurants all over the SE

when they first started, they used all fresh ingredients, the potatoes were fresh cut, the eggs were fresh cracked, etc

now? they serve those little crappy frozen potatoes and the eggs come out of a bag

#1 over-rated is Outback Steakhouse. Used to be good, now it's just awful. They can't even cook a steak to order at one. On two occasion we had to send our steaks back 3 times and still didn't get it cooked right. They are such a disappointment for me.

I would agree with most all of them. I'm lucky to live in a town that has a plethora of eating options that are not chains. I think Bloomington has a restaurant for just about every ethnicity.

The most overratted chain restaurant of all time has to be Olive Garden

 I will agree with this one, especially when it comes to women

I have no idea why women love Olive Garden so much. And pasta is such a ripoff at restaurants, especially at Olive Gardens level. I can make the crap pasta that OG serves for $5 at home and it will feed me for 5 days.

The only way I pay for pasta at a restaurant is if they are making fresh pasta and using legit ingredients.
